October 1st
PackSecrets - postcard exhibition
The Crafts Center | 12 p.m. - 10 p.m.
An exhibition of postcards created as a part of the PackSecrets project, contributed anonymously by NC State students, faculty, staff and campus community.

October 5th
"It is Done" - theatre production
Theatre in the Park | 7:30 p.m.
Inside a desolate bar in the middle of nowhere, bartender Hank and his only customers, Jonas, a man on the run, and Ruby, a mysterious woman on a mission, settle in for a long evening to ride out a windstorm. Trapped together, seemingly innocent conversation escalates into life or death struggles as past secrets are revealed. A great Halloween treat! For mature audiences only.

"Killer Joe" - staged reading of Tracy Letts
Sonorous Road | 3 p.m.
Written by award-winning playwright Tracy Letts, "Killer Joe" tells the story of a young drug dealer named Chris who finds himself in desperate need of some cash. He and his father Ansel come up with the idea to murder Chris" mother for her life insurance policy.

Free the Mic - open mic night
Lucky Tree | 7 p.m.
Join the Lucky Tree family for Free the Mic! This platform welcomes bold & original talent in poetry, spoken word, rap, song and instruments of all kinds, all in a positive place to share and be inspired. Both artists and spectators are welcome!

Opening of Vernon Pratt Exhibition - reception
The Gregg Museum of Art & Design | 6 p.m.
Make a night of it at the Opening Reception for Vernon Pratt and the All the Possiblities of Sixteen exhibit. Scott Laird, music director at NC School of Science and Math, introduces.

Fine Arts, Photography & Graphic Design Competition - exhibition
N.C. State Fair | 10 a.m.
More than 1500 Fine Arts & Photography works are judged and on display in Professionals, Amateurs, Students and Schools categories at the Kerr Scott Building along with the Graphic Arts competition & display which focuses upon computer designs and features creativity in graphic design with presentation categories from art teachers, students, and public & home school entries.

"In the Blood" - theatre production
Titmus Theatre | 7:30 p.m.
Hester and her 5 children are homeless and desperate for a way off the street. Although Hester‘s family is surrounded by seemingly helpful people, they are unable to get out from under the poverty and neglect that society has heaped upon them. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Suzan-Lori Parks, this re-envisioning of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter engages the audience in questions of societal and personal responsibility. For mature audiences only.

Ranky Tanky - music performance

This Charleston based quintet performs timeless music born in the southeastern Sea Island region of the U.S. The soulful songs of Gullah culture are brought to life by a band of native South Carolinians who mix the low country traditions with large doses of jazz, gospel, funk and R&B.

October 20th
"Strange City of Edgar Allan Poe" - theatre production
Sonorous Road | 8 p.m.
Strange City of Edgar Allan Poe is an immersive Halloween experience based on the life, characters and stories of the famous poet. The production is co-written and co-directed by Artistic Director Michelle Murray Wells and local actor/playwright/director Christian O’Neal and promises audiences an unforgettable experience wandering the halls of Poe’s mind. This production is an immersive experience where audience members will be exploring the space on foot (wheelchair accessible) with first entry time at 8pm, opening every five minutes until the last entry time at 8:45pm. Only 10 tickets allowed per entry, and the experience lasts approximately one hour and closes at 10pm for all participants (so get an early slot if you would like to explore longer than an hour!). Recommended ages are 13 and up due to the mature nature of Poe’s works.

ARCY Live! Graffiti Artist - presentation
N.C. State Fair | 10 a.m.
Known for his paint splashed style of large scale street art, renowned artist ARCY LIVE! Ryan Christenson will be featured at the North Carolina State Fair. She his finished artistic vision of a North Carolina scene on his 110’ mural.

Gary Knight, forensic photographer - discussion
The Crafts Center | 7 p.m.
Photographer Gary Knight will talk about his career as a crime scene photographer for North Carolina"s State Bureau of Investigation and the Wake County City-County Bureau of Identification. As the first responder to homicide crime scenes, Gary"s photography work often made the difference between solving a case... or not. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more as he shares his knowledge and experience in this exciting field of photography. If you like CSI, you’ll love this lecture!
