All the warm weather and sunshine sure make it feel like summer is here! Along with summer in the Triangle comes a wonderful assortment of outdoor concerts and summer movies on the lawn. Grab a blanket and some snacks and enjoy the season!
This weekend we have listed almost 70 events! We will highlight some of the exciting events, but for the whole list of everything going on throughout the Triangle, make sure you go to the ParkGeek.com event search. Put in this weekend's dates and start planning a fabulous weekend.
The fun starts early over at Booth Amphitheater at Regency Park. Movies by Moonlight offer movies on Thursday evenings through the summer. This week's film will be Pretty in Pink.
The Holly Springs Cultural Center kicks off a Month long Film Series focused on the Faces of America. This Thursday, the PBS series will focus on Our American Stories.
First Friday Music & Movies
The Raleigh Amphitheater is a year old. Come help celebrate its 1st anniversary with a Benefit Concert for Tornado Victims. The line up consists of amazing talent including: The Connells, The Love Language, Marcy Playground, Red Sonja Band, Motor Skills, Aunt Martha, Young Cardinals, the Small Ponds, and Kooley High.
Enjoy a free self-guided tour of local art galleries, art studios, museums, retail, restaurants and alternative art venues on the first Friday of every month for a First Friday Gallery Walk.
First Friday at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will feature live music from from the Museum's own Steve Harvell, an opening reception for for watercolor painter Rachel Collins and the Natural Horror Picture Show: Devil Girl from Mars.
The North Carolina Museum of History will host a reading of the play, The People of Clarendon County, followed by a panel discussion for First Friday.
The Raleigh City Market will host the funky band, Outside Soul for a free concert that also boasts free glow necklaces for kids.
Its Family Fun Night with Trish Miller over at Bass Lake Park. Start the evening with arts & crafts, live animals or fishing and finish the night with an interactive concert by kid favorite, Trish Miller.
The Town of Cary hosts two free concerts this Friday night. The Triangle Brass Band invite you to join Pops in the Park at the Sertoma Amphitheater in Bond Park and Jamrock will be playing at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center as part of the Starlight Concert Series.
Festivals at the Parks
Celebrate Fuquay-Varina will be heating things up this weekend. The festival with live music, arts & crafts, free children"s rides, a BMX Stunt Show, antique cars and tractors, concessions, eating contests, the Mayor's Walk and the Run the Quay 5K race.
Kids Together Park invites you to an old-fashioned Birthday Party to celebrate the anniversary of the park on Sunday afternoon. March with KATAL the KT Dragon in a kids' parade, hear the Kids Together Park story, and help make Roly Poly fruit slushies.
The Dog Days of June come to Bond Park with plenty to do for you and your four legged friend. There will be Family Events including live music, a charity dog walk, a dog/owner look-alike contest, raffles and lots of pet related businesses. You can also team up with your dog and compete in the Dog Disc Competition! All dogs and experience levels are welcome and it should be a blast for spectators, too. Dog Days is all about keeping your pet healthy and happy. The event will also include a Dog Wash, Rabies Vaccine and Micro-chipping Clinic.
Bring the Family out to Lake Wheeler for the annual Kids Fishing Derby and kick off to National Fishing and Boating Week. Following the event there will be a free hot dog cookout, games and door prizes.
Duke Park will host the Annual Beaver Queen Pageant. The family friendly Beaver Drag fundraising event supports the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association in its effort to clean the beaver's wetland.

Join astronomers from Morehead Planetarium out at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area for a Skywatching Session.
Bright Star Children's Theatre presents African Folktales at Sertoma Amphitheater at Bond Park Saturday.
Join the North Carolina Museum of Art for a series of modern, contemporary, and hip-hop dance performances by rw2brand. Come back Sunday afternoon for The Gates of Hell Project. Inspired by the museum's Rodin sculpture collection, the collaborative dance and music performance will be impressive.
Sunday night kicks off the Sunday in the Park Concert Series at Fred Fletcher Park with the popular folk venue, Milagro Saints.
Saturday's in June will feature Bears & Bees at the North Carolina Zoo. This Saturday will highlight the Polar Bears.
National Trails Day
This weekend as we celebrate National Trails Day, there are numerous projects around the Triangle that you are invited to join in on. What a great opportunity to give back to our parks! Some of the events do require registration or request you bring or wear special equipment, so make sure you click through for all the information.
Volunteers at Eno River State Park will help park staff work along the Eno River maintaining the trail, fixing erosion problems, clearing brush, and getting it ready for a summer full of hikers.
