We at ParkGeek.com are excited that in March we will celebrate fourteen years of serving the Triangle! It has been our passion and our purpose to share the awesome array of parks, museums and events available. You can help us get the word out. Festivals and Fun

Thursday's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will explore deadly stars. Come learn the top ten ways that stars can kill, maim or really, really hurt you.

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences partners with NASA and the Raleigh Astronomy Club to host Astronomy Days Saturday and Sunday. There will be a full weekend of expert speakers, exhibits and lots of hands on activities. Click through for the whole line up.

Join the North Carolina Museum of History to kickoff Black History Month with Saturday's African American Cultural Celebration. Featuring musicians, storytellers, dancers, historians, playwrights, authors, artists, reenactors, chefs, teachers, scholars, and more will be on hand to help tell the rich and varied stories of our state and the continued quest of defining and working for freedom.

The Holly Springs Winter Farmers Market returns to the Holly Springs Cultural Center Saturday morning.

Laurel Hills Community Center invites you to celebrate the Chinese New Year Sunday with performances, activities, games and much more!

Durham Central Park will host a Food Truck Rodeo Sunday afternoon. In addition to a wide array of food trucks, there will be plenty of good music.

Holly Springs Cultural Center's Monday Morning Movie will be Escape from Planet Earth.

Fun at the Parks

Prairie Ridge Ecostation for Wildlife Learning continues to hold a Nature Storytime every Thursday morning and Citizen Science Opportunities every Saturday. The Nature PlaySpace will be stocked with extra special materials and supplies and a Museum play facilitator will be present during Nature Play Days every Tuesday morning and Saturday afternoon.

Join them on the American Tobacco Trail Friday after dark for the Night Hike as they walk to the Beaver Creek bridge and back. Come back Saturday to to learn some Advanced Winter Tree ID.

Come and learn about Occoneechee Mountain's geologic wonders Saturday as you explore the Pyrophyllite Quarry with a real geologist!

Discover how animals deal with cold weather and which ones hibernate during the winter months. Play some fun games and take a short hike to look for signs of Wintering Animals Saturday at Historic Yates Mill County Park.

Have you seen the sun set on the Eno River? Join the Naturalist for a hike Saturday to watch the Sunset.

Find Larry the Deer at Umstead State Park. Larry, a taxidermyt deer head will be moved to five unique spots in the park starting this weeknend. Click through for the coordinates where you can find him. The first five people at each site to send them a picture with Larry will get a free canoe rental this upcoming 2020 canoe season.

Sunday's Winter Hike at West Point on the Eno Park will explore Hike the most scenic stretch of the Eno River past many rock outcrops and rapids to the stone ruins of the old Holden Mill.

Fun at the Fairgrounds

Like new clothes, toys and other children's items offered at discounted prices all weekend at the Kids Exchange Consignment Sale at the NC State Fairgrounds.

The Chatlee Boat Show comes to the Fairgrounds Thursday through Sunday.

Also this weekend at the Fairgrounds, the Flyball Tournament returns! Come watch the flyball dogs. Each dog jumps 4 hurdles and steps on a spring loaded box, which shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the ball and runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat.
