Enjoy the long weekend! This weekend also officially kicks off our fantastic festival season here in the Triangle!

Friday Kicks Off the Long Weekend

Movies By Moonlight brings A Star is Born to the big screen after dark at Regency Park.

Welcome the weekend with Iris after Dark at the NCMA's Iris restaurant every Friday night. Enjoy a delicious selection of small plates, an extended wine and beer selection and tunes of local DJs and musicians.

The Carolina Inn in Downtown Chapel Hill will present the sounds of local band Barefoot Manner Bluegrass Band along with Triangle food trucks Bull City Street Food and Napoli Friday evening.

Gray Scale Whale will be the featured band at the Apex Nature Park Amphitheatre Friday evening.

Festivals and Fun

This weekend's African American Cultural Festival is a two-day cultural festival, that takes place annually on Labor Day weekend, in the center of Downtown Raleigh. The event offers a family-friendly, outdoor festival that features entertainment, visual artists, cultural displays and food & craft vendors.

Experience the excitement of radio control model flying and drone racing Saturday at Sugg Farm Park. Wings Over Springs Model Aviation Day will provide demos of all types of models and fun the whole family!

The Bull City Rumble comes to Downtown Durham Saturday. The world-renowned vintage motorcycle and scooter rally is open to the public for viewing the annual bike show.

You are invited to the Tarheel Labor Day Cluster of Kennel Club Dog Shows. A different Kennel Club hosts competitions each day Friday through Monday and competitions include a Championship all breed dog show, obedience and rally trials.

Running Friday through Monday, the Treasures of the Earth Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show at the State Fairgrounds will offer a vast array of precious and semi-precious gem stones, pearls, beads & findings, minerals, fossils, and finished jewelry in gold and silver.

The State Fairgrounds will also host an Equestrian Exchange Consignment Sale.

Come spend an entire afternoon free from electronic devices Sunday afternoon as Wake Forest goes Unplugged ...and gets Connected. There will be free games and activities including sack and relay races, corn hole, and miniature golf. The evening will culminate in a concert featuring Sensory Expressions.

Also Sunday, get out of the kitchen and head on over to Durham Central Park for an afternoon Food Truck Rodeo. Along with over 50 Food Trucks on hand,and live music.

Music, Movies & History

Want to get inside Historic Yates Mill? Come on out for a Saturday at the Old Mill Tour or a Mill Heritage & Local History Tour on Sunday and Monday.

Movie by Moonlight brings Incredibles 2 to the big screen after dark at Dix Park Saturday.

Join them for the final Movie in the Park of the season at Falcon Park featuring the movie Ralph Breaks the Internet with food truck Wandering Moose Saturday evening.

The Holly Springs Farmers Market is excited to present the SproutFest Kids Appreciation Day along with the weekly market.

Joyner Park starts up the Six Sundays in Spring Concert series this weekend with the Carribbean sounds of Sensory Expressions.

The Princess and the Frog will be the featured flick Tuesday morning at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

Lots More to do in the Parks

Go on a Snake Search Saturday at Eno River State Park. Come back to the park Sunday for a Haiku Hike where you will read some haikus for inspiration and then have the opportunity to write your own inspired by what you see on a hike.

Join an Umstead Park Ranger to watch "The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies", a 45 minute documentary about the migratory lifecycle of the Monarch Butterfly. After the film, take a short walk to some Swamp Milkweed at Big Lake and take home some Butterfly Weed seeds to start your own milkweed garden at home next spring.

The Special Sunday Program this week at Prairie Ridge Ecostation will feature Salamander Sleuthing.
