What a greet weekend this is looking to be. There is a wide variety of concerts, movies, park events and historical programs throughout the weekend.
 

The weekend starts early with Thursday evening fun! From 3pm-7pm every Thursday, Marbles Kids Museum drops their admission price to $2 and stays open late for family fun. If you are there for lunchtime Thursday, join the Carolina Hurricanes staff members for some Hockey Fun.
Oak City 7 is back to Raleigh's City Plaza Thursday night featuring the bands Collapsis, Jack The Radio, Runaway Cab, Outside Soul and Pices Rising.
 
The first Thursday of the month always brings a round or Science Trivia to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences along with extended hours.
 
The music of Zansa, a synthesis of traditional and modern styles of West Africa will be filling the evening at the CCB Plaza Thursday evening.

Weekend Festivals
 
Duke Homestead invites you to join them for their annual Summer Children's Festival. Enjoy music, dancing, historical crafts, activities and games!

 

Travel to ancient Rome Saturday for a Family Fun Saturday all about Ancient Mosaics at the NC Museum of Art.
 
Grab your family for a friendly competition in the Sport of Science Saturday afternoon at Marbles Kids Museum as they hold a Family Science Olympiad.
 
Come have a Super Fun Saturday at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. Sample activities for the upcoming art camps, make some arts and crafts and play games during this free morning event.
 
This Saturday the North Carolina Museum of History features the painter Susan Brabeau in their Artist at Work Series and invites you to join in on a Scavenger Hunt through the 1920s pharmacy gallery, then make a period toy to take home. Also Saturday, there will be a panel discussion on Sam Ervin and Watergate: 40 Years Later.
 
The State Fairgrounds will host the Southern Bridal Show and Expo both Saturday and Sunday.
 
Can you find Cami? Come search the gardens at the JC Raulston Arboretum Saturday for their summer intern,Cami. She will be hiding in the gardens with a fun learning activity for children.
 
Over 50 food trucks will be ready and waiting to serve you a wide assortment of gastric delights on Sunday in Downtown Raleigh for another Food Truck Rodeo. There is a new bubble zone and street chalk art zone for families along with tables and chairs for over 1,000 people.
 
This Wednesday the annual Cheese Please Festival returns to the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market. Come enjoy a wide selection of the area"s finest cheese and cheese makers, a grilled cheese cook-off, local cheese sampling, live music by Dark Water Rising, local lunch options, and kids activities.
 
Concerts & Culture
 
The John Henry Band will be playing Blues and Rock Cover songs at Friday night's Summer at the Springs Outdoor Concert in Holly Springs. In case of rain, the concerts move indoors.

 

Friday's Art in the Evening at the North Carolina Museum of Art will include music by David Dryer and the Crooked Smile Band, extended hours and special small plates and beverages. This week's Sound Bite will explore, Catching Gestures in European Paintings.
 
Art After Dark is back to downtown Fuquay-Varina. Come on out to enjoy the galleries, live music and kids activities.
 
The streets of Downtown Wake Forest will come alive with food, merchants and music Friday night for Art After Hours.
 
Carrboro also enjoys a night of live music and art related entertainment for their 2nd Friday Artwalkwalk.
 
Forest Hill Park will host Sweet Dreams playing Old Skool/R&B for a Saturday evening concert.
 
Boo Hanks & Lightnin' Wells will converge and explore the blues of the Piedmont in a concert Saturday at Bond Park's Sertoma Amphitheater.
 
The Raleigh Concert Band will be performing marches and Broadway Show tunes during a concert Saturday evening at Pullen Park.
 
The Folsom Prison Gang will be playing an Outdoor Concert at the new Apex Nature Park Saturday evening
 
Raleigh's Sunday in the Park Concert Series continues this week with an evening performance by Cynthia Jones.

Movies at the Parks & Museums
 
Bring the whole family out to Regency Park Friday night to enjoy Despicable Me 2 as this week's Movie by Moonlight. Come back after dark Saturday for the film Captain Phillips

 

Come on out to the NC Museum of Art's amphitheater on Friday night to see the 2013 film American Hustle starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
 
Surf"s Up will be playing Saturday morning at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. Come back Monday morning for Finding Nemo.

More at the Parks
 
Bring the whole family out to Eno River State Park Friday morning for the Grand Opening of the Kids in Parks Track Trail established along the Eno Trace Trail. Take a short hike, do some fun kid-oriented activities and might even win a prize! Treat yourself to some lemonade and watermelon at the end of the hike!

 

Come on down to Bass Lake Park Friday night for a fun night of Family Bingo.
 
Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park will be offering Saturday at the Old Mill Tours and Mill Heritage & Local History Tours on Sunday. Explore the inner workings of the mill itself and witness the power of water as it turns the milling machinery. In addition, Friday night you can join a park naturalist for a walk in the park after dark to find hidden clues along the way to answer a Night Time Riddle.
 
Historic Oak View County Park is partnering with Morehead Planetarium for a program loaded with Stories and Stargazing after the sun goes down Saturday.
 
Early risers can join a ranger at Eno River State Park Saturday morning for an easy hike with gentle hills, wildlife, and stone remnants of Durham's first Water Pumping Station. They will be reading The Very Busy Spider and learning about the Eno's beautiful spiders or going on an adventure looking for Water Bugs Saturday afternoon. Come back Sunday to take a morning hike out to Cole Mountain, to learn how Owls Prowl or make a Bird Craft.
Join them Saturday at Crowder District Park for a full hour of Crafts using the park's forest friends as inspiration! Learn the importance of Trees through games and hands-on activities then make your own paper Sunday afternoon.
 
There are several events and programs at the parks that occur every week. Prairie Ridge Ecostation offers a Nature Storytime every Thursday, Nature Play Days on Tuesday and Citizen Science Programs on Saturdays. On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays or each month, head over to Lake Crabtree for fishing witth the Crabtree Casters.
