Christmas on Salem Street

Downtown Apex
Downtown Apex December 1st - December 3rd Tree Lighting Friday 5pm Parade Saturday 5pm

The Annual “Christmas on Salem Street” events begin at 5:00 PM on Friday December 1st with Christmas Carols at the Depot, followed by the Lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree by Mayor Lance Olive. Then Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive on one of the Horse Drawn Carriages at the front of the Downtown Fire House between 5:45 and 6:00 PM.

There will be 4 Horse Drawn Carriages for rides on the block bounded by Moore Street, Upchurch Street, Holleman Street, and Salem Street from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The cost is $10.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Tickets will go on sale starting at 4:00pm on Sunday, November 19 and are sold ONLINE ONLY HERE. There are limited amount of tickets available, based on the 3 hour time frame carriage rides will operate. The tickets tend to sell out fast, so stay tuned for the start of online ticket sales starting at 4:00pm on November 19.

The Carriage rides will load, start, and return to drop passengers off on E. Moore Street in the First National Bank parking lot. No tickets are sold at that location, and will be available ONLINE ONLY HERE starting on Sunday, November 19 at 4:00pm. Please arrive there close to and prior to the time assigned on your ticket. People will be boarded on the rides according to that assigned time, and please remember those times are only approximate due to unknown exactness of the speed of the horses.

After Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 6:00 PM, they walk around Downtown Apex to talk and mingle with the children. They do not ride on the Carriage rides.

Because the Carriage Rides tend to sell out fast, there is also an added attraction – a “Kiddy Christmas Train Ride” which also runs from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. That ride loads, starts and returns to drop passengers off at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House). The cost is $5.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Those tickets are also available ONLINE ONLY HERE starting on Sunday, November 19 at 4:00pm, and will also be available on December 1 at the corner of Saunders and Salem Streets unless all of the tickets sell out online before the event.

Please note that for both the Carriage and Kiddy Train rides, children 12 & under must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.
