9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance

South Park and Community Center
South Park Tuesday, September 11th 8:30am-9:30am Free

Join them to remember 9/11 and keep alive the spirit of unity and compassion that arose in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The FVHS Chorus will perform. Our featured speaker Alicia Ledek, currently a resident of Fuquay-Varina, will share her remembrances of 9/11 and the impact it has had on her family. Her father, NYPD Detective Michael Ledek spent a great deal of time at the recovery effort after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Mr. Ledek passed away Feb. 9, 2018. Alicia and her family will honor her father"s legacy of service by running in the Stephen Sillers Tunnel to Towers 5K race in New York on Sept. 30. The race pays homage to the 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Proceeds from the race support the Foundation’s programs. If you would like to donate to the Ledek Family Team visit: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/team-23268
