At Mordecai Historical Park. Tuesday, January 19th 6:30pm Free program.

Raleigh Sister Cities will kick off its 30th anniversary, yearlong celebration at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Mordecai Historic Park Visitors Center, 1101 Wake Forest Road.

During the celebration kick-off, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about upcoming special events such as the craft beer collaboration with visitors from Kingston upon Hull, England, and the Taste of Our Cities – Farm to Fork fundraiser. Additional events planned throughout the year are a visual arts exhibit featuring artists from Raleigh’s Sister Cities and a City of Raleigh Museum exhibit featuring residents of our sister cities titled "Voices from Our Sisters." Attendees will also be able to meet Raleigh citizens who coordinate exchange programs with the five Sister Cities: Xiangyang, China; Compiegne, France; Rostock, Germany; Nairobi, Kenya; and Kingston upon Hull, England.

Raleigh Sister Cities represents part of the City’s efforts to connect globally by fostering opportunities for business, cultural, educational and civic experiences through citizen exchanges and collaboration.

“Since 1986 we have hosted nearly a hundred delegations from our five Sister Cities and we have sent more than 100 delegations of several thousand Raleigh citizens to visit the Sister Cities,” said Marjorie Salzman, president of Raleigh Sister Cities. “This is all part of our effort to foster global citizens.”

The kickoff event is free and open to the public; anyone planning to attend should pre-register online at http://bit.ly/1mzBh5G or send an email to info@raleighsistercities.org
