40th Anniversary Celebration

Forty years ago, Chapel Hill"s Howard Lee, then the North Carolina Secretary of Natural Resources and Community Development, made a speech at a National Trails Symposium in Waynesville that North Carolina should create a “state trail from the mountains to the coast, leading through communities as well as natural areas.” Hillsborough"s Riverwalk is part of that Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Come celebrate the 40th anniversary with a group hike beginning at 8:30 am on Sept 9 at Gold Park and a small celebration with the Eno River Farmer’s Market.
