Statewide Star Party: American Tobacco Trail

American Tobacco Trail (Greenways, Trails)
American Tobacco Trail, White Oak Parking Area Field Friday, April 12th 6:30pm–10:30pm. Free

Join us for the NC Science Festival"s Statewide Star Party themed "The Moon and Beyond". There will be fun hands-on activities, storytime and a Solar System walk early in the evening.  As the sun goes down, enjoy constellation storytelling and observe the night sky through telescopes and binoculars.

This FREE Star Party is hosted by Wake County"s American Tobacco Trail park staff and partnering with North Carolina State University"s Parks, Recreation and Tourism students, Agape Center for Environmental Education, Wake County Libraries, the Carolina Children"s Museum and Girl Scout Troop 7000. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Bring your curiosity, water bottle, chair and/or blanket, your own viewing instrument, if you have one, and dress for the weather! This event will take place on the back field of the White Oak parking area under the stars. There is no rain/cloud date – call the park for weather updates (919-387-2117). If it is not raining but cloudy, all the fun activities before dark will still go as planned.

The NC Science Festival’s annual Statewide Star Party is made possible through the generous support of the NC Space Grant.
