Every year on January 21st is Squirrel Appreciation Day, founded in 2001 by Christy Hargrove, a wildlife rehabilitator for the Western North Carolina Nature Center in Asheville.

From 8:30 to10:30 a.m. or 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20th, you and your family are invited to join them for their "Squirrel Spotters" program. Help them celebrate Squirrel Appreciation Day and learn about squirrels and the citizen science efforts associated with them. This program is free, and requires preregistration.
