Arbor Day

Page-Walker Arts & History Center
Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Saturday, March 18th, 1pm-3pm Free event

Each spring they continue the national tradition of celebrating the importance of trees with our Arbor Day Celebration in downtown Cary. A tree dedication ceremony opens the event and then guests can enjoy free tree themed crafts for kids, education and entertainment. While supplies last, attendees can pick up a free tree to plant at home and enjoy time for Q&A with our certified Arborist including tips for proper planting. We hope guests make time to enjoy our tree identification scavenger hunt to learn more about our community’s trees and have a chance to win a home compost bin. Additional booths will be onsite representing other local environmentally focused groups.

For their seventh annual Arbor Day Celebration in 2016 they dedicated the Arbor Day tree in honor of a former Hometown Spirit Award recipient, Anne Kratzer. With this dedication they read the Town’s Arbor Day Proclamation and celebrated our 33rd year as a Tree City USA Community. This designation is awarded to us based on Cary"s investment in the management of our urban forests.

The Arbor Day foundation is the world’s largest tree-planting organization and in our community we offer citizens the opportunity to plant trees, and perform other environmental service, through Cary"s Spruce program. Since the Spruce program first began in 2009, their volunteers have planted over 10,000 trees, shrubs and plants in their community.
