National Trails Day

Eno River State Park
Eno River State Park Saturday, June 6th 9am-4pm Call 919-383-1686 to register.

They will be working on trail maintenance on the very scenic, but very eroded section of the Cabe Lands Trail that runs along the Eno River. This work will be hard physical work, involving moving and packing down soil and rock. We plan to, over a series of workdays, significantly improve this trails segment. This is a great opportunity to come out and visit the park and help maintain a popular, well used trail. Tools will be provided. Volunteers will need to wear work clothes they can get dirty, solid shoes or boots, and bring work gloves, water, lunch, insect repellent, sun screen. No dogs. Children are welcome to work with a parent or guardian, but a signed State Park release form (available at the workday) will be needed. This workday is working on a portion of the Mountains-To Sea Trail, a hiking trail being built across North Carolina. The Cabe Lands trail is part of a 75 mile long continuous section of trail extending from Pleasant Green Road in Orange County, along the Eno River to Falls Lake, and along Falls Lake to the dam, in Wake County. RSVP to dietrich@duke.edu. Event will be canceled in the event of inclement weather, and an E-mail sent out to this effect.
