Durham Big Sweep

Northgate Park
Northgate Park. Saturday October 7th, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Durham has been hosting a Big Sweep event for over 16 years now. In just the last four years over 1,500 volunteers have helped to clean an estimated 45,000+ lbs of trash out of our community.

The Durham Big Sweep is sponsored by Keep Durham Beautiful, City of Durham Stormwater Services and the Durham Soil and Water Conservation District. Additional support is provided for this community cleanup by City of Durham Neighborhood Improvement Services and Durham County Government General Services.

Durham Big Sweep 2017
The official Durham Big Sweep 2017 will be held on October 7th. If volunteers cannot participate on October 7th, they are encouraged to pick another day throughout the months of September or October.

Volunteers can create a cleanup team with a group of family/friends/co-workers, or volunteer as individuals and be assigned to a team. Event organizers can assist in locating a cleanup site once you register or teams may pick the cleanup location of their choice: a local park, neighborhood, stream, lake shore, parking lot, school grounds or workplace grounds. Anywhere you see trash will make a great Big Sweep cleanup site.
