There are plenty of fun Halloween events going on this weekend! It looks like the weather is going to be cooler so whether you are looking for spooks and screams or science and music, have a great weekend!

Halloween is Here!


If you haven't made plans for the weekend yet, there are still plenty of fun options for you and your little gouls and gobblins. Some of these events do have admission fees and many require pre-registration (and some sell out fast) so make sure you click through for all the information. Mordecai Historic Park goes all out on Saturday with the Haunted Mordecai Free Festival, Haunted Mordecai Lantern Tours and Haunted Trolley Tours.

Koka Booth Amphitheater at Regency Park is getting in the spirit Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Reel-ly Scary Movies. Disney's The Haunted Mansion is a family friendly flick showing Thursday. Friday brings The Blair Witch Project. Saturday rounds out the festival with a double feature of Scream and Scary Movie.
Scare-o-lina Skies runs this weekend at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. Designed for adults and older teens during the Saturday evening shows and the whole family during the matinee Sunday, the show will feature Halloween-themed ancient sky legends. Homegrown Halloween will bring loads of costumed grown ups to Downtown Chapel Hill Monday night.
In Hillsborough, Friday night will feature the "Spirits of Hillsborough" Haunted Tour.
Come on out Monday to Hallow-Eno and enjoy hay rides, campfire stories, entertainment and interesting treats at West Point on the Eno. Join them Saturday night at Eno River State Park to Celebrate Halloween by a Campfire with spooky stories and S'mores or learn about Creatures of the Night Friday night at Falls Lake. Little River Regional Park invites you to join them on Saturday for a Haunted Hike and Umstead State Park will host a Halloween Special on Sunday.
The fun starts early this year over at Lake Benson Park. Saturday afternoon there will be a White Deer Dash and Family Fun Run. Stay after the run for Goblins in the Park. The festivities will include crafts, carnival games with prizes, hay rides, a haunted trail, and a costume contest.
Many of the Triangle businesses will be joining in on the Halloween fun. Bring your kids in costume to any of these downtowns and enjoy Trick or Treating at local businesses. Historic Fuquay and Wake Forest will celebrate Friday afternoon while Cary will join in Saturday and Apex will have candy ready Monday evening.
Head on over to the North Carolina Zoo this weekend and, in addition to the beautiful drive amongst the fall color, you can enjoy a weekend of Boo at the Zoo. The weekend will be full of storytelling, face painting, a Kazoobie show, magic, games, a costume contest and tricks & treats.
Head on over to the Carrboro Town Commons to start the fun Monday night at a Halloween Carnival complete with games and a costume contest.
Celebrate Halloween early at the annual Zoo Boo Bash at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro on Thursday! At this "scare-free" family event, adult and kid goblins should come dressed in costume to play spook-tacular games, enjoy crafts and face-painting and go trick-or-treating. The museum will also be offering 3 showings of their laser light show, Fright Light on Friday night.
Durham will be hosting a Teen Costume Party at the W.D. Hill Recreation Center on Friday night. See jack-o-lanterns from the Museum of Durham History's "Carve Durham" contest Saturday morning at the Durham Farmers' Market.
Join them at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center Friday for a Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary. Your tour guides will share spooky legends and tales of yesteryear, guaranteed to send a chill up your spine.
The Howlin' Good Halloween Celebration takes place Saturday at the Herbert C. Young Community Center with the Tricks & Treats Halloween Bash and Pumpkin Painting while the new Cary Arts Center will host clay pumpkin carving, storytelling, bluegrass music and the Fright School's 6th annual Haunted House.
On Sunday, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will be the site for a Natural History Halloween. The celebration, will attempt to change your fears to fascination while meeting snakes, spiders, gators, and other live animals from the Museum"s collection. Special games, fun activities and a costume contest will make this a Halloween to remember. Young ghouls, goblins, pirates and princesses are invited to dress up and creep on over to Marbles Kids Museum for Halloween at Marbles. Join them for a weekend full of boo bubbles, roasted seeds, pumpkin pounding, costume making, bat bungee and spiders dropping.
Morrisville Community Park will also sponsor a Halloween Spooktacular Trail on Saturday. The early portion of the evening will feature a family friendly trail with mild scares. Later in the evening the trail will become spookier, and is suitable for adults and children ages 10 and older.
 

Fun Fall Festivals

It is time for Hollyfest in Holly Springs! Enjoy food, music, crafts, games and contests for kids, racing pigs and more. In honor of Halloween, this year's festival will also feature a children's costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest. Make sure you stop by the Cub Scout Pack 356 booth for some scrumptious hot dogs and baked goods.

Arts and Crafts, a chili cook-off, a classic car show and lots of great live entertainment along with the Fuquay-Varina area business exposition will make a Day in Downtown the place to be. Come try a Krispy Kreme Hamburger, as featured at the State Fair at this years festival.
The much anticipated annual Recycle Sale fund-raiser for Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve is back! You can drop off items to donate for the sale on Thursday and Friday, as well as, check out the sale Saturday for some great deals for a great cause.

Music Movies & Art

Meet "Storm Chasers" star Sean Casey and VORTEX2 scientist Karen Kosiba, get an up close look at the Tornado Intercept Vehicle and the Doppler On Wheels. Experience Tornado Alley on the big screen when the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences opens its new WRAL 3D Theater.

Art in the Evening and the Fall Film Series returns to the North Carolina Museum of Art with the 2000 film Little Otik.
Enjoy stories from around the world told through mime, puppetry, drama, comedy, and music during a Children's Performance Saturday at the North Carolina Art Museum with Doug Berky. Join them before or after the performance for some Drop-In Crafts.
Durham Central Park will be the location for a Food Truck Rodeo on Sunday.

Harris Lake County Park invites you to celebrate some Fall Family Fun with them Sunday afternoon. You will take a hayride, carve a pumpkin and take some time to learn about some of the spooky animals out this time of year.

Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park is a beautiful place to visit in the Fall. This weekend, in addition to the scenic park and informative, interpretive center, you are also invited to take a Heritage Tour of the historic mill.
Do some Birdwatching early Saturday morning at Eno River State Park or learn about the Fungus Among Us and Fall Color at West Point on the Eno both Sunday afternoon.
Head on over to Jordan Lake Saturday night for a Skywatching Session with Astronomers from UNC's Morehead Planetarium.
Meet some of the fascinating and beneficial creatures that share our outdoor space and learn ways to make your yard wildlife-friendly during a Backyard Wildlife program at Crowder District Park on Sunday afternoon.
The JC Raulston Arboretum is hosting Color Magic: The Science Inside Fall Leaves for families to explore plant science mysteries together on Sunday afternoon.
