The leaves are all coming down quickly now and temperatures are cooler this weekend. Enjoy a fabulous fall weekend here in the Triangle!

With the holidays just around the corner, we at ParkGeek are excited to be your source for local parades, tree lightings and holiday events.Tuesday kicks off the holiday festivities with the public ticket sales for the Santa Train at the Museum of Life and Science. Last year's event sold out in only four days so plan ahead and get your tickets now. Click through for the prices and event times.

Tickets are also on sale for the Holiday Express at Pullen Park. Make your plans now to see the park festively decorated with thousands of lights and transformed into a holiday wonderland.

In preparation for the needs of the upcoming season, both Crowder District County Park and Historic Yates Mill Park are holding Food Drives for the month of November.

Festivals & Outdoor Fun

November is Pecan Pickin' Month at Historic Oak View County Park. Come on out to the park anytime this month to harvest your own pecans that have fallen from the trees in their Pecan Grove.

Through a fusion of science, art and true wonder, Bull Moon Rising will bring the community together to celebrate Durham's 150th Anniversary and to honor the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Through Monday, you can see the installation by U.K. artist Luke Jerram suspended over CCB Plaza

Fletcher Park will host a Fall Arts Fair Saturday showcasing the work of jewelers, potters, painters, printmakers, bookmakers, glass artists, fiber artists and more who participate in Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers' programs.

Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park, is the perfect venue for that fall family picture. While you are there, take an Old Mill Tour on Saturday or a Mill Heritage & Local History Tour on Sunday to get a peek inside the fully restored mill.

Explore Durham's public art on the Murals by Bike Tour Saturday morning.

The Springs Winter Farmers Market kicks off the season this Saturday with the annual Battle of the Badge Chili Cook Off! They will host winter markets on the first and third Saturday November through April.

The clocks "fall back" Sunday for Durham Central Park's final Food Truck Rodeo of the year. There will be dozens of food trucks as well as live music by the Bull City Music School.

Enjoy dazzling displays of show chrysanthemums grown by the Central Carolina Chrysanthemum Society and browse information booths about gardening with mums, participate in arts and crafts activities and tours of mum displays in the Gardens Sunday through Tuesday at the Sara P. Duke Garden's Mums Festival.

Museums & Movies

Saturday is Mexican Modernism Community Day at the North Carolina Museum of Art to celebrate a special exhibition featuring Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection. There will be free admission to the exibit all day and family-friendly indoor and outdoor activities.

Its a Super Fun Saturday at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. Join them for free arts and crafts for kids 4-12.

Join them Saturday at the Museum of Life and Science for a Teddy Bear Hospital. Kids are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal friends to explore activities designed to highlight the body, physical fitness, and healthy habits.

Sombra Verde will be the featured flick for Sunday afternoon's Indoor Film Series at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The film uses elements of surrealism, Mexican folklore, and expressionism to capture the complex, turbulent relationship between two women.

The Holly Springs Cultural Center will feature Monsters Inc as their Free Family Movie on Monday.
