Spring is officially here! Just remember that March comes in like a Lion and out like a lamb.

Friday (and fun Thursday, too)

This Thursday the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences invites you to join them for Science Cafe. This week's theme is "What Have You Been Drinking?" and will explore what's in our water supply.

Marbles Kids Museum celebrates Twilight $3 Thursdays every week with extended hours and discounted admission.

Art in Bloom returns to the North Carolina Museum of Art Thursday through Sunday with a wide variety of events and activities. The East Building and the Museum Park will remain open and free to visitors. Tickets are required for Art in Bloom and there are additional fees for some of the related events. Ralph Breaks the Internet will be the featured flick for Thursday night's Pizza and a Movie Night at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. Also Friday night at the Halle, you are invited to an Opening Reception for an Apex Friendship High School and Apex High School art exhibit.

Celebrate North Carolina's Arbor Day by joining a Occoneechee Mountain Park Ranger on a hike on the Chestnut Oak Trail at Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area Friday afternoon.

Get outdoors with Umstead State Park Ranger Jess Friday afternoon for a nice, Spring-Day Hike. The route covers part of Loblolly Trail, the Multi-use trail, and loops by Reedy Creek Lake before ending back at Loblolly Trail.

Crowder By Night will be looking for Signs of Spring Friday evening. Join them to spot the early signs of spring then make a toad abode for the spring peepers around your home.

Festivals and Shows

Come see the Raleigh Little Theatre performance troupe "RLT Players To Go" as they present Rapunzel, a fun and entertaining show perfect for the whole family Saturday at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

Wendell Park will be celebrating Arbor Day Saturday! Learn the history of Arbor Day, get a free Pin Oak Seedling while supplies last and kids get to enjoy a free Kona Ice.

The NC State Fairgrounds will host the Kennel Club Dog Show Wednesday through Sunday. Each day will be hosted by a different Triangle area Club.

The Raleigh Antiques Extravaganza comes to the Fairgrounds Friday through Sunday with over 125 exhibitors. There is an admission fee.

The Raleigh Spring Premier Benefit will feature classes for American Saddlebred horses, Roadster horses and ponies, Hackney ponies, Southeast riders and a full Morgan Division through Saturday at the Fairground's Hunt Horse Complex. Also for horse lovers, the Equestrian Exchange Consignment Sale is back to the Fairgrounds all weekend.

To round out the fun at the Fairgrounds, the Carolina FiberFest is a family-friendly event featuring classes, free demonstrations, and shopping for yarn, ready to spin fiber, patterns, tools, accessories, and specialty items both Friday and Saturday.

Durham Central Park hosts a Food Truck Rodeo Sunday afternoon along with live music by local band DreamRoot.

Spring at the Parks

Prairie Ridge Ecostation is hosting special Sunday afternoon programs in March. Join them this week to learn about Spring Trees.

Come and learn about Occoneechee Mountain's geologic wonders while you explore the pyrophyllite quarry with a real geologist during Saturday's Geology Hike.

Do Bald Eagles and Ospreys, Make Good Neighbors? That's the question they are going to answer Saturday at Jordan Lake.

They will be going Wild about Woodpeckers Saturday at Blue Jay Point County Park. Learn about what makes them special and make a suet feeder to take home.

They will be asking Whose Poop Is This? Saturday at Falls Lake. Learn how to identify animals found in the Piedmont area by their tracks and their scat.

Hike a circle around Big Lake and see some beautiful parts of Umstead State Park that people rarely see Sunday on a Signs of Spring Hike.

Park Staff at Lake Crabtree will also be taking a Signs of Springs Hike Sunday afternoon.

This Sunday's Spring Hike Series at West Point on the Eno will explore the Penny Bend Nature Preserve. Join them for an easy to moderate walk with one short, steep stretch that rewards with a bluff-top view of the river.

History Comes Alive

Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park will be running half hour Old Mill Tours of the fully renovated mill on Saturday as well as hour long Mill Heritage and Local History Tours on Sunday.

Also at Yates Mill Saturday, join them for Art in the Park: Artsy Owls. Practice different owl calls, learn all about owls and create a Snowy Owl craft and a set of owl wings to take home.

Watch and participate as Mr. Buzz Ben Crawley inspects real hives with real bees Sunday at Historic Oak View County Park.

The featured flick at Holly Springs Cultural Center Monday will be The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
