Halloween is just around the corner! It looks like the weather is going to be awesome so whether you are looking for spooks and screams or science and music, have a great weekend! Feel free to go to the ParkGeek.com Events Search if you want to get the whole listing of holiday events.

Lunchtime Thursday is Sweet Potato Day at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh. Join them for lunch and enjoy a free sample of a sweet potato dessert.

Hill Street Community Center hosts Creative Crafts throughout the Holidays and invites kids to join them this Friday for a Halloween Craft.

Put on your best costume and join them for a fun evening of spectacular music, fun, games, and treats at Laurel Hills Park Thursday evening.

Wake Forest starts things off early with a Halloween Spooktacular at Flaherty Park Community Center this Thursday. This year's festivities will include a costume contest, face painting and a cupcake walk, along with a variety of other ghostly games and activities, and free pumpkin giveaways.

Food Truck Thursdays continue at Knightdale Station Park for both lunch and dinner.

Leading up to Halloween

There are so many fun options for you and your little gouls and gobblins. Some of these events do have admission fees and many require pre-registration (and some sell out fast) so make sure you click through for all the information.

Friday night, the Natural Science Center of Greensboro presents a Fright Light Laser Show on their 40 foot dome theater featuring a star studded soundtrack including the songs Thriller, Dead Man's Party and a Monster Mash.

The Witches on Salem Street will be out in Apex for a Ladies Night of shopping, dining and fun Friday! Also Friday, mosey on over to the Halle Cultural Arts Center for the Goblins Grove, a family dance featuring music from the 80's & 90's as well as spooky favorites.Come back with the kids Sunday to Trick or Treat on Salem Street.

Mordecai Historic Park goes all out on Saturday with the Haunted Mordecai Free Festival and Haunted Mordecai "Nothing More". Friday & Saturday nights they will be running Haunted Trolley Tours.

Millbrook Exchange invites the whole family to Friday night's Boo Bash. Get on the costumes and join them to do some trunk-or-treating, make a SPOOKtakular craft, try your hand at some FANGtastic games and walk thorough their spooky bus. Peach Road Community Center will celebrate a Haunted Halloween Friday evening with carnival games, a photo booth, a spooky dance party, and face painting for the whole family.

Zombies will prevail this weekend. Zombiepalooza will premiere Friday night at the Cary Theater featuring local filmmakers' own zombie films; cosplay zombies, and classic films to scare the pants right off of you! Also in Cary, Regency Park will host the Rocky Horror Show Live On Stage both Saturday and Sunday!

Trick or Treat in Downtown Fuquay-Varina Friday afternoon and a Trunk or Treat event Sunday at the Holly Springs United Methodist Church parking lot in Downtown Holly Springs.

Come to Hillsborough's Spooktacular Weekend! They will offer Spirits of Hillsborough Haunted Tours both Friday and Saturday. Their annual Halloween Spooktacular party will be Friday evening at the Central Recreation Center.

Friday, the Carrboro Halloween Carnival will bring great carnival games and wickedly good prizes to Downtown Carrboro.

The Heart of Cary Association's Fall for Cary Festival is partnering with Cary's Great Pumpkin Carve to bring a host of free events that include: food trucks, local craft beers, a petting zoo, costume contests for adults and pets, trick or treating at downtown businesses, hay rides, bounce house, children's crafts and cookie decorating, balloon artistry, face painting and a treasure hunt with more than $3,000 in prizes. Also in Cary on both Friday and Saturday, check out Herbert's Haunted House. Saturday afternoon, the Cary Arts Center will be the place to be for their annual Costume Dance Party.

As a special treat Tuesday, join them for a Pumpkin Flotilla at Bond Park to watch the pumpkins set sail across Bond Lake at twilight. There will also be food trucks, live music, and face painting!.

On Saturday, Morehead Planetarium invites you to some Moonlight Madness featuring games, Science LIVE! performances, photo booth, a costume fashion show, haunted house, candy, and food trucks!

Chapel Hill hosts the famous Homegrown Halloween Wednesday with a festive downtown and large crowds of costumed revelers.

Fun Fall Festivals!

Come join them at Method Park for their Spook-tacular Fall Festival on Friday evening featuring arts and crafts, a video game truck, healthy treat bags, and carnival games.

The Apex Music Festival returns this Saturday after being rescheduled. Head to Downtown Apex to enjoy live music, street vendors, food trucks and an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. Four stages will host live music acts throughout the afternoon and evening. A variety of food trucks and craft beer is available along with street vendors.

Animated Storytelling Comes to Raleigh with OMAi Mapping Stories with various events from October 27th - November 13th. Join them this Saturday at Saint Augustine's University for music, performers & food trucks.

The Town of Holly Springs presents HollyFest Saturday at Sugg Farm with a variety of events including kids zone, cornhole cup, food trucks, business expo, live entertainment, kids activities, and arts & crafts expo.

Crowder District Park hosts Canine Contests Saturday. They're looking for the best dog tricks and canine costumes!

Durham Central Park will also go to the dogs Sunday during Barktoberfest.

Campfire stories & songs, hayrides, treats, crafts, games, and face painting are all part of the Hallow-Eno Festival Wednesday night at West Point on the Eno.

This is the last weekend for the Pumpkin Patch Express at the Museum of Life and Science. Climb aboard the Ellerbe Creek Railway for a journey to the Museum"s pumpkin patch. Pick the perfect pumpkin to decorate and take home, then enjoy crafts and a variety of carnival games before returning to the station.

Dorthea Dix Park is hosting the annual FallFest Saturday featuring a family-focused atmosphere with food/drinks, live entertainment, kids and adult activities.

City Market will round out the weekend with the Triangle All-Dessert Food Rodeo Sunday afternoon. Come dressed in your best Halloween costumes and enjoy 4 Delicious hours of Sweetness from 20+ vendors plus face painters and balloon artists for the kids.

Museums, Movies and More Fun

Explore the inner workings of Historic Yates Mill and witness the power of water as it turns the milling machinery during a Saturday at the Old Mill Tour and on Sunday, a Mill Heritage & Local History Tour.

Yates Mill will get into the spirit of the season with some Great Ghostly Gourds Friday afternoon, a chance to Paddle the Pond Saturday and a Fantastic Halloween opportunity to make your own trick-or-treat bags, paper plate jack-o-lanterns, and paper bag monster puppets Sunday through Wednesday,

The Upside Down Halloween is an adults only evening Friday at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences full of strange experiences filled with themed science stations and activities followed by dancing the night away to hits from the 1980s!

Scare-o-lina Skies returns to Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. Explore the dark legends behind the constellations in their Adult/Teen Version with a show on Friday night.

Dead of Night will be the featured flick Friday night at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Dorothea Dix Park will host a Halloween Double Feature for their Movies by Moonlight after dark Saturday. Join them for Casper followed by Beetlejuice.

Downtown Historic Hillsborough will host a River Park Concert Saturday celebrating musicians from local counties, the state of North Carolina, and the southeastern U.S. Click through for the line up of all 6 concerts.

Take a Walk in the Dark with the North Carolina Museum of History Saturday in this immersive live theatre experience. Audiences will follow pirates, pilots, and pioneers as they twist and turn throughout a lantern-lit tour of the real Story of North Carolina!

Delve into the dark corners of Raleigh's past with historical accounts of murder, mayhem, and monstrous crimes on this guided Dark Raleigh Walking Tour on Monday hosted by the City of Raleigh Museum.

Morrisville invites you to Trick-or-Treat the Trail on Saturday at Morrisville Community Park. They will start with a Family-Friendly Trail and end the evening with a Guided Haunted Trail.

Spiders, bats and owls, oh my! Have fun learning about these not-so-scary animals through a boo-tiful morning of Halloween Wildlife Wednesday at the Harris Lake County Park.

Come and enjoy a spooky scene and an awesome candy bag, while you"re making your candy rounds on Halloween night at the Ralph Campbell Center.

Join Powell Drive Park on Wednesday evening and get caught up in their web of take-home arts and crafts activities, music, games, prizes and goodie bags of healthy treats.
