Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the holiday buzz is already in the stores! This weekend commemorates our Veterans. Join them Downtown Raleigh Saturday morning for the annual Veteran's Day Parade followed by a wreath laying on the Capitol grounds.

Holly Springs will honor those who have served in our nation's armed forces during the town's annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Park Friday morning.

Food Truck Thursdays continues at Knightdale Station Park during both lunch and dinner.

The 'Jump for the Children' Horse Show - benefiting Duke Children's Hospital at the State Fairgrounds started Wednesday and runs through Sunday. Spectator Admission is free and the event will even feature an International Hunter Derby Friday night and a Grand Prix on Saturday night.

Tuesday is a Durham Community Day at the Museum of Life and Science so Durham residents can visit the Museum for free with proper identification. The next free day is Sunday, December 3rd.

2017 Santa Train Ticket Sales at the Museum of Life and Science went on sale to the General Public November 7th. The event sells out every year very quickly so get your tickets now while there are still some available.

Step back in time this month at Historic Oak View County Park and enjoy Pecan Pickin' Month.

Hill St. Community Center invites kids 5-12 to join them Thursday evening to make a Veteran's Day Craft.

Fairs & Festivities

Historic Yates Mill Pond County Park will host Saturday Tours of the renovated mill as well as Mill Heritage & Local History Tours on Sunday.

More than 100 Craftsmen featuring a large variety of Handcrafted Items will be at the Raleigh's Farmers Market Fall Craft Fair Friday through Sunday along with all the great local fall produce to help you kick off your holiday shopping.

The North Carolina Museum of History will host their special exhibit, North Carolina and World War I through January 6th. The amazing free exhibit covers 6,500 square feet with 500 artifacts, period photography, a trench diorama, historical film footage, educational interactive components, and video re-enactments.

Come to the Museum of History Sunday for a Music of the Carolinas concert featuring the storytelling and flute music of Cherokee Indian, Matthew Tooni.

The Triangle Chili Challenge comes to Downtown Cary Sunday afternoon with a Chili Cook-off, live music, kids activities and over 60 handmade artists and craft makers.

The STEM Innovators Experience 2017 comes to the State Fairgrounds on Tuesday. Students will attend workshops and working sessions that focus on one or more of the four critical aspects of innovation: the engineering process, enterprise process, content & skills and leadership. There is no cost to attend but, pre-registration is required.

Great Fall Fun

Come on out to Bass Lake Park Friday night for a little friendly competition as they play a few rounds of Family Bingo.

Blue Jay Point County Park invites you to get the "straight poop" on the subject of Scat (animal droppings) Friday morning.

Come back to Blue Jay Saturday afternoon to get a Little Bit Squirrelly. Join staff to learn all about North Carolina's state mammal.

Saturday, Falls Lake Rangers will discuss the benefits of Prescribed Fire in the landscape and look closely at an area that was recently burned in the park.

Harris Lake County Park will host both a morning and afternoon Introduction to Disc Golf including both lessons and playtime for players of all levels on Saturday.

Eno River State Park will take a short interactive Night Hike Wednesday after dark

Art and Culture!

Get out of the kitchen and take the night off Thursday at Pizza and a Movie Night at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. The featured flick will be "The Emoji Movie".

2nd Friday Art Walk returns to Downtown Carrboro. Many of the galleries will have live music and other art related entertainment. Second Friday of the month also brings Art After Hours to Downtown Wake Forest as the streets come alive with food, merchants and music!

The North Carolina Museum of Art kicks off the weekend Friday night with Iris after Dark Enjoy a delicious selection of small plates and extended wine and beer selection as you lounge with friends and enjoy tunes of local DJs and musicians. You can also stay for the Fall Film, Panique.

You are also invited to take a Weekend Family Friendly Tour or a Meet Your Museum Tour either Saturday or Sunday. These are re-occuring events at the Museum of Art every weekend.

Durham's tobacco heritage is explored through the stories and experiences of Durham residents on the second Saturday of every month on a Tobacco Heritage Walking Tour.

Dr. Hollis Robbins will present a Lecture on her book "The Portable Nineteenth-Century African American Women Writers" on Sunday afternoon at the Burwell School Historic Site.

The Holly Springs Cultural Center will feature the movie Tarzan Monday morning.

A Fun Day Trip

If you are looking for a fun day trip outside the Triangle, the Natural Science Center of Greensboro is a great destination. The Museum is an awesome blend of children's museum, science center, an outdoor zoo and the Carolina Sciquarium. With lots of hands on exploratory opportunities for little ones, science shows and displays for older kids, a beautiful outdoor area with a wide variety of animals in natural habitats, and live sharks, penguins, fishing cats, stingrays and exotic fish, the center can keep the whole family engaged. The museum also sits adjacent to a large park and lake which make for a great picnic opportunity.
