Welcome back to the heat of the summer. There are lots of great summer events this weekend.

Thursday is Peach Day at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh. Stop by at lunchtime for free Peach Dessert samples, peach dessert contest, N.C. Peach Queen, recipes and tons of delicious local peaches!

Thursday evening , the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is hosting both a Science Cafe on Predicting Volcanic Eruptions and Family Night: Science Adventure featuring a variety of physical and mental challenges to complete a series of quests.

Celebrate Summer at the Parks

Even if you are already back in school, a trip to a local park can be an awesome way to unwind and rejuvenate yourself.

Durant Nature Park is hosting a Nature and Sensory Play Day with guided activities to delight the senses and encourage nature play Friday morning.

Does the Bald Eagle have a White Head and Tail? That's the question they will be exploring Saturday at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area with a presentation by doc Ellen.

Both Saturday and Sunday Historic Yates Mill Park will be offering Costumed Corn Grinding Tours. Saturday afternoon, their historic trade program will explore Ice Suppliers and they will be doing some Country Dancing in the Mill Yard.

Along with their weekly Citizen Science Saturday walks, this weekend, Prairie Ridge Ecostation invites you to learn about Photography for Science on Saturday afternoon.

Eno River State Park invites you to three programs on Saturday. Waterflow will teach all about how the river flows, Get the Dirt on Soil will explore the different types of soil from around the park, and Invasive Species will teach you how invasive species are affecting native species.

Look for millipedes and more as you search beneath logs and leaf litter during Saturday's Family Wildlife Series program at Blue Jay Point County Park.

Stop by Crowder District Park's Discovery Table Saturday afternoon and learn all about Bees. Come back Sunday for a Family Feature all about Solar Power.

Take a History Hike through the old farmstead Saturday at Historic Oak View County Park.

Oak View Park is proud to announce that they are hosting the Summer Food Service Program again this year from June 19th through August 11th. They are looking for volunteers who could help serve meals, as well as people who would want to lend a hand to staff games and activities. Kids 18 and younger are invited to join them each weekday for a meal and activities.

Get hands-on with history at Duke Homestead Saturday when they host Historic Games Day with history-themed activities and crafts for kids and their families.

Tunes & Culture

The second Friday of the month brings festivities throughout the Triangle. Join them in Carrboro & Chapel Hill for 2nd Friday Artwalkwalk, Fuquay-Varina for Art After Dark, and Wake Forest for Art After Hours along with a Friday Night on White concert by Big Love.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn Friday will feature local bands as well as Triangle food trucks.

Cris Jacobs will be the featured artist at Friday night's concert at Durham Central Park.

West Street Band will be playing a Summer at the Springs Outdoor Concert at the Holly Springs Cultural Center Friday night.

Starlight Concert Series at Page-Walker Arts & History Center presents Gregg Gelb and the Second Line Stompers Friday evening.

Bring your little ones to the Halle Cultural Arts Center Saturday morning for a SuperFun Saturday, free arts & crafts activities.

The North Carolina Museum of History is hosting a Bride at the Museum Saturday evening for all those planning the big day.

Nantahala will be playing a concert at the Apex Nature Park Saturday evening.

This week's Sunday in the Park Concert will bring the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra to the stage at Dix Park.

Movies at the Parks and Museums

Moana will be the featured flick this Thursday as Regency Park presents Movies by Moonlight.

Movies Under the Stars in Downtown Chapel Hill will feature Kicking & Screaming Thursday after dark.

The Friday night Outdoor Film Series at the North Carolina Museum of Art will also feature the family favorite, Moana along with Hoopla: Party in the Park with 8 local food trucks.Come back after sunset Saturday for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Monday morning's featured movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center is the animated Alice in Wonderland.

More Fun

Looking to get out of the house and stay out of the heat? The special exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of History, North Carolina and World War I, is a free, interactive multimedia exhibit will commemorate the centennial of US entry into World War I.

They will be playing an evening of Family Bingo out at Bass Lake Park Friday.

The Annual Children's Good News Spectacular returns to the Fairgrounds Saturday with inflatable games and rides, popcorn, snow cones and drinks, and an illusion show blended with several gospel puppet presentations.

The North Carolina State Fairgrounds will also be hosting both the Triangle Wide Horseman's Association Show the NCQHA District IV Novice No Bling Show which both offer free spectator admission.

The third Saturday of every month, you are invited to take a Durham Civil Rights Heritage Walking Tour.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences invites you to join them for a Lecture: No More Hidden Figures in conjunction with their current exhibit, RACE: Are We So Different? Tuesday evening.

The Holly Springs Farmers Market will be joined by the Center Street Market this Saturday. In addition to lots of fresh fruits and veggies, you can browse local artisans and their crafts.

The Apex Farmers Market will host a Peach Festival Saturday morning!
