Friday Kicks off the Weekend

Just outside the Triangle, the Natural Science Center of Greensboro invites you to enjoy an evening of lights and music for Laser Zeppelin. Shown on their OmniSphere Theater's 40-foot dome, the sounds of Led Zepplin will wash away the winter blues. There are 3 shows Friday night.

Art in the Evening at the North Carolina Museum of Art features live music by Fusion Collective South as well as the classic film My Darling Clementine. This week's Friday Night Sound Bite will examine Majesty and Motion.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will be celebrating Final Friday by Entering the Canine Mind. Enjoy interactive stations that delve into the science behind dog behavior, some true stories of pets navigating vast distances to return to their owners, games and activities like "Dog Breed ID," hear from a dog body-language expert, and meet police dogs face to face. Top the evening off with the 1963 live actin film ""The Incredible Journey."

On the last Friday of every month, Cary celebrates art with the Cary Art Loop. Enjoy extended hours at participating art galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, and other businesses that showcase visual arts, music, and use the free shuttle service between downtown venues.

Downtown Wake Forest will be celebrating Mardi Gras with their annual Mardi Gras Street Festival Saturday. Head downtown for a parade, children's activities, costume contests, and merchant specials.

Explore the lives and accomplishments of African American North Carolinians from the antebellum period to the Civil Rights era on an African American History Tour Saturday at the North Carolina Museum of History.

The North Carolina Museum of Art offers Meet Your Museum Tours of the 164 acre campus and Weekend Friendly family Tours both Saturday and Sunday.

Nuestras Historias, Nuestros Sueños/Our Stories, Our Dreams is the current traveling exhibit at Historic Oak View County Park. The exhibit documents the experience of Latino farm workers in the Carolinas, their dreams for the future, and the barriers immigrant youth face as they try to pursue their education. The exhibit runs until May 7th.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will host a Teen Volunteer Fair exploring the variety of opportunities for teens at the Museum Sunday afternoon.
