This weekend there are some fun festivals, several movies and a wide variety of concerts so no matter what you're in the mood for, we can get you out enjoying your summer weekend and Fathers day

If you are looking for some yummy fresh food for your holiday picnics, don't forget all of our local farmer's markets. Thursday at lunchtime the State Farmes Market celebrates Blueberry Day with dessert samples, recipes and lots of fresh North Carolina blueberries. In addition to the State Farmer's Market which is open every day, just about every Triangle town has a municipal market. Right now the blueberries are in and the corn, tomatoes and summer squash are delicious! Thursday night, Downtown Carrboro hosts After Hours Early Summer with free music by Milagro Saints.

Also Thursday at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, the Science Cafe will explore "Ant Behavior: Tales to Astonish"

There are two events aimed specifically at Dads this weekend. Marbles Kids museum will be celebrating DIY with Dad Sunday.

Bring the whole family out to Historic Yates Mill County Park Sunday for an afternoon enjoying the great outdoors during Dad's Day Out.

Festivals & History

The Peak City Pig Fest is back to Historic Downtown Apex this weekend. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, teams from all over the country will come to compete against each other for prize money cooking chicken, ribs, beef brisket and pork. Along with great food, there will be live music, a kid's area, pig races, and a corn hole tournament. The festivities actually start Friday night and continue through Saturday.

Come see the Art Opening: Storytelling, Photography, Plus Art of Nature with three featured, local artists Friday evening at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. Bring the little ones back Saturday morning for a Super Fun Saturday full of free arts and crafts.

Historic Yates Mill County Park will be exploring the Starry Sky after dark Friday night. Saturday, they will host some Family Fishing Fun and featuring the trade of Field Archaeologist. They will also be giving Corn Grinding Demonstrations both Saturday and Sunday.

Durham will host a Civil Rights Heritage Walking Tour Saturday morning focusing on the sites in downtown Durham that were important during the 1950s and 60s Civil Rights movement.

Durham's Juneteenth Celebration will take place this Saturday in Downtown Durham. There will be entertainment, vendors, health fair, children's village and a marketplace.

Durham will also kick off their Inaugural Triangle Community Band Festival Saturday afternoon. Enjoy an afternoon full of music in Durham Central Park, featuring performances from The Cary Town Band, Durham Community Concert Band, Holly Springs Community Band, Raleigh Concert Band, and the Village Band!

Join Lake Crabtree County Park Saturday for their annual Pollinator Festival.There'll be lots of fun stuff to do like scavenger hunts with prizes, crafts to make, and games to play, as well as local experts to answer your questions and even an observation hive.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences invites you to the Grand Opening of their new special exhibit: American Adventure. Take a trip through the American Adventure survival maze then test your hand at primitive survival skills, from navigation to rope-making, plus hands-on activities and take-home crafts.

Experience the magic of old fashioned storytelling nestled in the trees and surrounded by the rides and joys of Pullen Park. Stories in the Park will take place Saturday morning at the Children's Amphitheater.

Marbles Kids Museum will explore life on aNorth Carolina Family Farm from sun-up to sun-down Saturday where kids will paint with produce, dig into soil science and get moving with barnyard fun!

Come Celebrate Father"s Day with 50+ food trucks plus live music by the Diali Cissokho & Kaira Ba and local beers at Sunday afternoon'sFood Truck Rodeo at Durham Central Park.

Music at Outdoor Concerts

Pickin' in the Plaza, the sister series to Oak City 7 will be bringing Bluegrass to Raleigh's City Plaza Thursday evening. Come enjoy food trucks, local beers and a concert by Jon Stickley Trio with The Midatlantic.

Hip Pocket is this week's featured band for the Follow Me 2 Fuquay-Varina Concert Thursday evening along with local craft breweries, vineyards and eateries.

Head over to Downtown Durham for Third Fridaywith a gallery crawl, live music and more.

The Sertoma Concert Series brings the Triangle Brass Band to the stage Friday night at Bond Park in Cary.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn features Acoustic Manner and the food trucks D'Burritos and Porchetta.

Friday's Art in the Evening at the NC Museum of Art brings the sounds of Beauty World and a sound bite about And the World is..... As a special treat, you can mingle at the West Building wine bar before enjoying a freeContemporaries Third Friday Tour. Bring the kids back Saturday for a Family Fun Saturday or experience a Summer Sound Bite on the Green Bridge II by Lyonel Feininger.

Clay Street After Work will feature the Will McBride Group to Downtown Mebane Friday night,

Raleigh moves this week's Sunday in the Park Concert to Fred Fletcher Park with the featured band SWAG.

Movies Under the Stars

Get out a blanket and the bug spray and head on out to watch an evening movie under the stars. There are even more great movies hitting the big screen this weekend!

The North Carolina Museum of Art will be showing the 2015 film Bridge of Spies Friday after dark.

The North Carolina Museum of History will screen America's First Forest: Carl Schenck and the Asheville Experiment Friday evening.

The PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series will be showing The Princess Bride. Come early to enjoy a variety of Food Trucks Friday night.

Bring the kids to the Holly Springs Cultural Center Monday for the movie Kung Fu Panda. They will be showing Hook Wednesday afternoon.
