The heat is on and it feels like summer! There are a whole bunch of outdoor concerts and movies so you can enjoy your summer evenings after the sun goes down.

Movies at the Parks and Museums

The week of kid's movies continues at the Halle Cultural Arts Center through Friday. Thursday's movie is The Good Dinosaur and Friday features Paddington.

Regency Park hosts Movies By Moonlight Thursday showing of Kung Fu Panda 3.

Flashback Friday returns to City Plaza Friday night with the classic movie Jumaji.

Hollywood clips fall from the sky as liquid entertainment with Joan Crawford, Lena Horne, and many others during Friday's Durham Cinematheque Movies in the Park, "Think it Might rain?"

The North Carolina Museum of Art will be showing family favorite Inside Out Saturday evening under the stars. There is also a family camp out option available for an additional fee. Contact the NC Museum of Art for more information

Inside Out will also be the featured flick in the Pit at Parrish Womble Park Friday night. This week's Movies in the Park is hosted by Hope Community Church.

The Apex Nature Park will be showing The Finest Hours on the outdoor screen Saturday after dusk.

The Holly Springs Cultural Center continues their Summer Cinema Series Wednesday afternoon with Clue the Movie.

Concerts throughout the Triangle kick off Thursday and continue through Sunday. The Oak City 7 Concert Series continues Thursday night at Raleigh's City Plaza with the three bands: Diali Cissokho & Kaira Ba, Outside Soul, and Happy Abandon.

Come out for After Hours Early Summer to enjoy free music on Thursday nights on the lawn in Carrboro along with a beer tent selling local beers.

In Chapel Hill, Big Fat Gap will be playing the tunes and dinner will be provided by Barone Meatballs and Chirba Chirba Friday evening on the front porch of the Carolina Inn.

Art After Hours will liven up Downtown Wake Forest Friday night with food, merchants and music!

The Summer at the Springs Concert Friday night in Holly Springs will feature the jazz, rock, Latin, pop, and funk superstars, the BellaTrix.

Come to Historic Oak View County Park Saturday for a Barnyard Birthday Bash! They will be celebrating their goat's birthdays.

Downtown Wake Forest will be filled with all makes and models, including muscle cars, sports cars, pony cars, classic and antique autos, street rods and trucks durning Saturday's Charity Car Show. There will even be live music.

North Carolina Museum of History will showcase Latino Artists at Work Saturday afternoon.

Historic Bentonville Battlefield will present a Day in the Life of a Civil War Soldier on Saturday with Re-enactors on hand to discuss the typical soldier's life, uniform and equipment. Artillery and musket demonstrations will be held throughout the day.

The NC State Fairgrounds will host the Tarheel Triple Classic Quarter Horse Show and the Gem & Jewelry Show.

Help the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences provide worldwide access to information hidden deep within their collections by joining their latest citizen science adventure, CitSciScribe! Saturday's project launch will use volunteers to take handwritten records from the collections and transcribe them into a digital format, earning cool digital badges.

Celebrate Flag Day Saturday at the Raleigh City Museum and learn all about Raleigh's flag, housed in the Museum's collection.

Marbles Kids Museum kicks off Marbles Mondays. Bring your kids to the Museum on Mondays this summer and enjoy the exhibits without competing with field trips. Friday brings Project Dance with American Dance Festival to the Museum. Tuesday night will be another Family Fun Night. The Museum is open late exclusively for kids with special needs and their families. Wednesday will feature Hockey Fun with the Carolina Hurricanes and they stay open late every Thursday with discounted admission.

Join the North Carolina Museum of History Thursday evening after hours for Talking about Treasures. Learn about how historic documents are stabilized, how the priceless objects are installed, and why they are rotated. Afterwards, take a tour of the Treasures of Carolina Exhibit.

Science Thursday at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will explore How Camera Traps Reveal the Mysteries of Nature.

Play some Family Bingo at Bass Lake Park Friday night.

Crowder By Night will be having some Summer Fun Friday night for the whole family.

Rangers at Durant Nature Park will be having Fun with Fireflies after dark Friday.

Take a Way Back When Wagon Ride Saturday at Harris Lake County Park to the longleaf pine forest. Come back Sunday for a Nature Photography Hike.

Blue Jay Point County Park invites the whole family to a Compost Carnival Saturday. Learn "the rotten truth" about the components needed to reduce organic matter to the nutrients needed to make good soil.

Falls Lake State Recreation Area will be discussing Dangerous Plants and Animals Saturday so you can be well informed.
