The drier weather should move back in this weekend just in time for trick-or-treating. Happy Halloween!!!!

 

Happy Halloween!

Science Thursday at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will feature Halloween Thursday Night with cupcake walks, a pumpkin carving contest, science costume contest, potions & dissection, a creepy scavenger hunt and mystery sensory boxes. Along with the holiday fun, there will be a Science Cafe on 3D Printing and Orthopedic Surgery! The Museum is also hosting monthly Thursday Evening Presentations in conjunction with their special exhibit, Extreme Mammals. Dr. Luke Dollar, National Geographic Explorer will be presenting next Thursday evening.

The Adult/Teen version of Scare-o-lina Skies returns to the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center Friday evening with two showings. Madness and Mayhem in the Night Sky will explore the dark legends behind the constellations! The Scare-olina Skies: Family Edition, better for families with elementary school-age children, will be shown Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Fright Fest at the Cary Theater continues Thursday through Sunday with classic horror films and Nosferatu (with live accompaniment by Mallarme Chamber Players) on Halloween night.

They invite you to decorate your trunk and pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters at the Trunk or Treat Thursday night in Durham Central Park.

Halle Cultural Arts Center invites the whole family to celebrate Halloween this year with the Goblin's Groove Family Dance Friday! There will be tunes from the 80's and 90's with some spooky favorites along with dance contests and freaky Halloween tricks and treats.

The Method Community Center will hold their SPOOKtaculer Fall Festival Friday night with carnival games, video gaming, healthy treat bags and a music DJ.

The Haunted Trolley Tours return for one last run Friday night at Mordecai Historic Park. Join them if you dare for a special late night tour of Raleigh's most haunted places.

Friday night, you are invited to the Annual Halloween Carnival in Carrboro. The Carnival will boast carnival style activities that reward your participation with wickedly good prizes.

Have a spook-tacular time creating your very own Frankenstein Luminary out of mason jars Friday evening at Halifax Community Center.

Bring the kids to Trick or Treat in Downtown Fuquay-Varina before the sun goes down Friday afternoon.

Get your costume on and head on over to the Halloween Parade and Dance Party at Marbles Kids Museum Saturday afternoon. Also Saturday at Marbles, the Tarheel Tale Tellers will be spinning their tales.

Homegrown Halloween will be attracting a huge crowd again this Halloween. Click through for some of the rules and regulations set up to keep the event safe Saturday night.

Fall Festivals and Fun

Pack a picnic lunch and some scarecrow accessories Saturday morning and head on over to the Pullen Art Center for the annual Scarecrow Festival.

Barktoberfest returns to Durham Central Park Saturday with fun and food for dogs and their owners.

Hollyfest returns to Sugg Farm Park Saturday with entertainment, Arts & Crafts, a Kids Corner, Kids Zone Inflatables & Rides, a Cornhole Cup , Food, a Pumpkin Carving Contest, a Business Expo and plenty of Fire Truck & Police Cars on Display.

The State Fair is over, but the fun at the Fairgrounds continues this weekend with the Triangle Farms Indoors Horse Show.

The Jump for the Children Horse Show....benefiting Duke Children's Hospital starts Tuesday and runs through next Sunday. The Olympic Style jumping competitions are free to watch except for Saturday night and families are welcome to walk through the barns to see the horses before and after competitions.

Join Durham's Central Park Halloween Weekend Food Truck Rodeo Sunday afternoon with more than 40 trucks.

The Raleigh City Museum will hold a Day of the Dead Celebration Sunday with Aztec dancers, children's story time and food associated with the holiday.

Friday and Saturday after dark, come out for a Haunted Hayride at Sugg Farm! This is a scary hayride with zombies to clowns and everything in between. The Holly Springs School of dance will even be performing Thriller throughout the evening Friday!

Come to Raven Rock State Park Friday after dark for some Legends, Stories, and S'mores Campfire.

Lake Crabtree will open their gates for you to explore the Park After Dark Friday. Learn more about the park's nocturnal animals and test your senses at night.

Put on your costume and trick-or-treat your way around their one mile loop trail at White Deer Park's Trick-or-Treat the Trails Friday evening.

In addition to the Saturday and Sunday tours of the fully restored mill, Historic Yates Mill County Park invites you to join them for an evening exploration of Monsters of the Millond Friday. Come back Saturday morning for Pumpkinpalooza.

Join them at Harris Lake Park on Halloween day for a Fall Wagon Ride through the back roads of the park as you delight in the fall colors and cool weather!

Hallow-Eno is a celebration of Halloween featuring hay rides, campfire stories, entertainment and spooky treats at West Point on the Eno Saturday night.

Join an Umstead Part Ranger Saturday afternoon for a Creepy Crawly Photo Hike.

They will be celebrating Halloween at the Wake Forest Farmers Market Saturday morning with live music, trick-or-treating and fun kids crafts.

November is Pecan Pickin' Month at Historic Oak View County Park. Feel free to come on out and harvest a few pecans for yourself from their grove of pecan trees. While your there, explore the Farm History Center, the Plank Kitchen, the Restored Home and Cotton Barn.

Culture around the Triangle

Epic will be the featured family movie Saturday morning at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.

The Onda Brazilian Jazz Band will kick off the weekend Friday night at the North Carolina Museum of Art with a sound bite on Puzzling It Out.

Friday's Live and Local Music & Arts Series in Chapel Hill will be All About that Jazz with the Jo Gore Trio.

Cary Visual Art will be hosting the 2nd annual Moonlight Sculpture Tour Friday night. Come enjoy a guided tour of the 10-piece Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition on the Town Hall Campus.
