This weekend there are some fun festivals, several movies and a wide variety of concerts so no matter what you're in the mood for, we can get you out enjoying your summer weekend and Fathers day

The State Farmer's Market  is open every day, and ust about every Triangle town has a municipal market. Right now the blueberries are in and the corn, tomatoes and summer squash are delicious! Just go to the Event Search on ParkGeek.com and type in Farmer's Markets and we will get you all the info on your local market.

There are two events aimed specifically at Dads this weekend. Marbles Kids museum will be celebrating Dad's Day Weekend with corn shucking and a DIY Builder Jam.

Bring the whole family out to Crowder District County Park Sunday for an afternoon of games related to nature followed by some refreshments as you spend Daddy Day at the Park..

Festivals & History

The Peak City Pig Fest is back to Historic Downtown Apex this weekend. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, teams from all over the country will come to compete against each other for prize money cooking chicken, ribs, beef brisket and pork. Along with great food, there will be live music, a kid's area, pig races, and a corn hole tournament. The festivities actually start Friday night and continue through Saturday.

Come celebrate National Pollinator Week at Lake Crabtree County Park Saturday at the Pollinator Festival. The Festival features games, crafts and all sorts of other activities celebrating everything that pollinates.

Durham's Juneteenth Celebration will take place this Saturday at Durham Central Park. There will be entertainment, vendors, health fair, children's village and a marketplace.

The State Fairgrounds will host the 1st Annual Author & Small Business Expo Saturday showcasing up-and-coming authors, artists, and small business. There will also be speakers and live entertainment.

The Fairgrounds will also host the North State Toy & Hobby Show and a Quarter Horse Show.

Classic, antique and muscle cars will be showcased in the Wake Forest Classic and Antique Charity Car Show Saturday.

NC Fresh Catch celebrates its 3rd annual Fresh Catch Festival in Raleigh Saturday. It's a City Park Picnic & Street Party at Moore Square. There is an admission fee so click through for the details.

Historic Yates Mill County Park will be exploring the historical trade of Blacksmiths on Saturday and invite you to contribute to a Community Art Project celebrating the spring both Saturday & Sunday. They will also be giving Corn Grinding Demonstrations both Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrate International Sun-Day with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Sunday. Join Museum astronomers and Raleigh Astronomy Club members for an afternoon of solar viewing, illuminating presentations, and activities for all ages.

Come to the plaza in front of the Raleigh Times Bar on the 3rd Sunday of April-October for a Third Sunday Children's Carnival. Bring the whole family to laugh, play and enjoy games,

The JC Raulston Arboretum is hosting a Summer Solstice Family Ice Cream Party Sunday evening, Celebrate the longest day of the year with ice cream, oversized lawn games and fun craft activities as you watch the sun set from the rooftop garden.

Come Celebrate Father"s Day with 50+ food trucks plus live music by the Chit Nasty Band and local beers at Sunday afternoon's Food Truck Rodeo at Durham Central Park.

Carolina Hurricanes staff members lead Hockey Fun at Marbles on Tuesday. Play around in the Canes inflatable slap shot booth and practice like a pro in the skills and drills zone.

Music for everyone at outdoor concerts

Head over to Downtown Durham for Third Friday with a gallery crawl, live music and more.

The Live and Local Music & Arts Series invites you to a Dance Party Friday night in Downtown Chapel Hill.

Fridays on the Front Porch of the Carolina Inn features Mick Mixon and the food trucks Porchetta and Soom Soom.

Friday's Art in the Evening at the NC Museum of Art brings the acoustic sounds of Sidecar Social Club and a sound bite about Creating New Worlds. As a special treat, you can mingle at the West Building wine bar before enjoying a free Third Friday Tour. Bring the kids back Saturday for a Summer Story Time.

Clay Street After Work will feature the American Rock"'n Roll tunes of Todd Johnson & the Revolvers in Downtown Mebane Friday night,

Moviesafter Dark

Get out a blanket and the bug spray and head on out to watch an evening movie under the stars. There are even more great movies hitting the big screen this weekend!

The PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series will be showing The Karate Kid. Come early for some dancing to 80's tunes and a variety of Food Trucks Friday night.

The North Carolina Museum of Art will be showing the 2014 film Chef Saturday after dark. Come early for a Food Truck Rodeo.

Robots is the Saturday Movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. Bring the kids back Monday for the movie Shark Tale.

Get Outside at the Parks

Start your day before the heat sets in at Eno River State Park for some early Friday Morning Bird Watching. Come back Saturday to explore Mushrooms of the Eno. On Sunday, Stories at the Ford will feature The Very Busy Spider and you can celebrate the longest day of the year on a family friendly evening Solstice Hike.

You are invited to a Nature Play Day Friday at Annie Louise Wilkerson Nature Preserve. Join them for imaginative play in a natural setting during this daytime open house. Come back after sunset Saturday for an Astronomy Night.

Durant Nature Park is also holding an Open House Saturday at their Sensory and Natural Play Garden.

Bring your kids to learn how to fish during CAST Saturday morning at Jordan Lake. Come back after dark for an Astronomy Viewing Session with Morehead Planetarium Educators.
