Happy New Year!! There are still a few wintery events going on throughout the Triangle. Winter Wonder Weeks at Marbles Kids Museum continues through Sunday. Click through for the complete schedule of festive activities like MakeShop, Twinkle Time and Radical Recess.
 

Celebrate winter indoors as the Museum of Life and Science get Frozen Over through January 19th. Their wintery playground includes giant felt snowmen, igloos, snowball targets, snowflake patterning and an indoor synthetic ice rink.
 
The Raleigh Winterfest Ice Rink is open through February 1st. Click through for all the fun special events like BOGO admission, carriage rides and music.
 
The Ice Factory at American Tobacco also features outdoor skating and will be open until February 15th. Save $2.00 off the admission price on special Themed Thursdays
 
The whole family can learn about Twelfth Night Traditions Sunday afternoon at Historic Yates Mill Park. They invite you to come eat, drink, dance and be merry at Yates Mill's Twelfth Night Celebration as you make traditional crafts and enjoy a Twelfth Night cake.
 
First Friday
 
The North Carolina Museum of History is again celebrating First Fridays in Raleigh. The Story of North Carolina exhibit on the lobby level and the Museum Shop will be open until 9pm.

 

First Friday also boasts extended hours at Marbles Kids Museum and the Raleigh City Museum as well as a Gallery Walk of the Downtown galleries and restaurants. The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences will not be participating in First Friday this month.
 
Art in the Evening kicks off the weekend Friday night at the North Carolina Museum of Art with extended hours, live music by the David Dryer Trio and a sound bite on the Art of Performance.
 
Its Family Fun Night Friday night at Bass Lake Park. Enjoy making arts and crafts, meeting a live animal, or some fishing the first hour and then watch you kids be captivated by singer and storyteller Trish Miller.
 
Fun at the State Fairgrounds
 
The State Fairgrounds will host the Carolina Piedmont Dog Agility Competitions starting Friday and running through Sunday.

 

They will also be Meowing in the New Year over at the Fairgrounds Friday through Sunday with up to 250 cats of various breeds. This show does have an admission fee.
 
Over 200 of the area"s top wedding professionals will be at the NC State Fairgrounds both Saturday and Sunday for a Wedding Show complete with fashion shows, entertainment and fabulous prizes. This show does have an admission fee.
 
Getting Outside for Some Fresh Air

Citizen Science Saturdays continue at Prairie Ridge Ecostation for Wildlife Learning. Come be a part of a citizen science project while you enjoy a weekly guided science walk.

Join Lake Crabtree's bird enthusiast, Vernon, for an easy walk while looking and listening for our feathered friends on Saturday morning.
 
Join an Eno River State Park volunteer to visit the Cole Mill Grist Mill site and explore some of its history on a Sunday afternoon hike.
 
January kicks off the weekly Winter Hikes along the trails of West Point on the Eno Park. Each Sunday until March 8th, they will offer a guided hike at 2pm. This Sunday's hike starts a little earlier at 1:30pm. Click through for all the details.
 
They will be studying Snowball Science at Crowder District Park Tuesday morning. Sip on hot cocoa and observe snow and ice through hands-on science experiments for the whole family.
 
Join Lake Crabtree park staff in collecting data for the state and national count of Bald Eagles Wednesday morning.
 
Starting December 26th and running through January 25th, you can donate your Christmas tree to the Wake County Holiday Tree Recycling Program. There are 8 drop off areas located throughout Wake County including Blue Jay County Park, Harris lake County Park, Lake Crabtree and North Wake Landfill District Park
