The Spring Festivals and Concerts kick up this weekend with something for everyone. Get out there and have a great weekend!

The farmers markets are just about all open now! Holly Springs is one of the latest to open next weekend. Start your Saturday morning off with some fresh produce and flowers. For more information on the area's farmers markets, just go to the Event search on www.ParkGeek.com and type in farmers market under the topic. We can show you where and when the farmers markets are around the Triangle.
 
Start your weekend early with Corn Deconstructed: Kernels of Truth, this Thursday's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
 
Raleigh invites you to celebrate the dedication of the 28 mile Neuse River Trail on Thursday night with live music, crafts & activities, a bike rodeo, nature education and greenway information.
 
Rise of the Guardians will be the featured flick for Thursday night's Pizza and a Movie at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

Spring Daze & More Festivals
 
It is now spring craft festival season! Bond Park will host Cary's Annual Spring Daze Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday. Featuring over 150 local artists, entertainment on four stages, a Children's Village, concessionaires with your favorite festival foods and Cary's Earth Day Celebration it promises to be a fun family event.

 

Bring your family to a free, daylong Songbird Celebration at Blue Jay Point County Park in recognition of International Migratory Bird Day 2013. Enjoy bird-related activities throughout the park, including games and crafts, preschool story times, bird hikes for adults and kids, learning stations and more.
 
Artists, food vendors, musicians and crafts people set up their wares on the sidewalks around the Hillsborough Courthouse for a Last Friday event. As a special feature, this Friday will also incorporate Orange County's Earth Evening. There will be hands-on activities for kids intended to educate, entertain and inspire them in the Spirit of Earth Day.
 
The annual Hillsborough Sculpture Tour starts on Friday. Click through for the locations and information how you can vote for your favorites.
 
HerbFest 2013 continues this weekend in Wake Forest. Join them for free entertainment, animal petting, live bands, and the largest selection of herbs and local grown, adapted perennials.
 
Looking for a fun day trip? Kure Beach will hold its Grand Opening Ceremony and Celebration all day Friday followed by the Kure Beach Street Festival on Saturday. Along with all the great festival food, unique arts and crafts, LIVE entertainment and family fun for kids and adults, the day ends with a huge fireworks display.

Come on out to the American Tobacco Trail after dark to look for nocturnal creatures and ride under the full moon for a Night Bike Ride.

 

Its another Citizen Science Saturday at Prairie Ridge. Or you could learn how to be a Bat Detective. Stay for Denizens of the Deep and learn how to scoop insects from their pond and identify some of the major groups of insects
 
Join a Park Ranger at William B. Umstead State Park on Saturday to learn about the Animals that call the park home. On Sunday, the Ranger will be exploring Snakes of North Carolina.
 
Learn to sail Radio-Controlled Model Sailboats Saturday morning with the Triangle Model Yacht Club at Lake Crabtree County Park.
Come take a Twilight Trek at Lake Wheeler after dark Saturday to enjoy a beautiful sunset hike.
 
Come out to Yates Mill Pond for a morning Canoe Float either Saturday or Sunday. Or if you would like to stay on solid ground, you might enjoy some Family Fishing Fun.
 
Crowder District Park invites you to drop in for a Pond Study to learn what lives in Crowder Pond on Saturday afternoon.
 
Teen and adults are invited to Walnut Creek Wetland Center Saturday to pick up some tips on Nature Journaling.
 
Saturday is Amphibian Awareness Day at the North Carolina Zoo. Enjoy educational activities, meet the keepers and learn about amphibian conservation efforts.

The Brand New Life, an eight piece afro-funk jazz group will play a Last Friday Concert at the Historic Old Courthouse, downtown Hillsborough Friday night.

The NC Museum of Art will kick off the weekend with a discussion of the art that Inspires Devotion and Art in the Evening featuring the sounds of the Peter Lamb and the Wolves
 
Come enjoy Saturdays at the Old Mill and join them for a half-hour tour of the historic, fully restored Yates Mill.
 
Join two guest speakers from the North Carolina Office of Archives and History to learn about the role of Women in the Civil War at Historic Oak View County Park on Sunday Afternoon.
 
The Power and Popularity of Music in the Civil War at the North Carolina Museum of History Sunday will explore the numerous ways music influenced popular culture in the years surrounding the war.
 
Sunday will mark the first of Six Sundays in Spring Concert Series at Carroll Joyner Park. This week's performance will feature Children of the Horn, an instrumental ensemble that has created a unique sound by combining influences from jazz, rhythm and blues, and world music.
 
Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp will be this Monday's Morning Movie at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.
